Play-Doh Play Date: Mommy & Konnor

Play-Doh has always been an all time favorite for me as a kid. Now that I have my own kids, they too love Play-doh and all it’s possibilities. My kids have both gotten several Play-Doh sets from past Christmas’s and birthdays. I try to only let them open one at a time. We in fact have 2 different sets in the closet for future fun. Thanks to Social Moms, I was able to sit down and play with my son with something I seldom let him play with inside the house. But because my youngest was napping, we thought it would be a perfect time to play..just Mommy and Konnor together.
As we looked through the Play-Doh Play Dates site together, we found many ideas but as we started to make them, we realized how hard these really were. So we decided to keep with the Fall theme, my son Konnor decided to do the Halloween crafts from the website. We printed a background from the activity page. The spooky Halloween mat fit our theme perfectly. We started with the ghost, the spooky tree, the spider and spiderweb and the pumpkin. The tree was the most difficult, even for myself. My son and I laughed together and goofed around while we played. I tried not to look down at the mess he was making under the play table.

The Play-Doh Play Date Site not only has a wonderful variety of beginner to advanced level ideas but it has a page for parents. Tips on cleaning up and reusing play-doh cans came helpful as I read through the site. One of the Play-Doh sets we have is the Hamburger Making set which we found in the games page, a game to play. The Orders Up Game is a game we can play at our next playdate. We also have the Meal Makin’ Kitchen that the boys are now excited to finally open and play with. Thanks Social Moms for finally encouraging ME to be brave and join in on the playdate fun with Play-Doh. I am now a fun Mommy because I’m allowing the mess. In the words of my oldest son, “I can’t believe you’re letting me play with this Play-Doh in the house Mommy.”
Konnor also decided to make something else he saw on the Play-Doh Play Date site. The ice cream truck intrigued him. Then he attempted to make his favorite Marvel Character: Iron Man.

After today’s playdate we have decided to make a Play-Doh Play Date once a week! As I take a deep breath, clench my teeth trying not to look at the mess…I agree and say happily, my son and I had fun and their fun is worth it all.

Happy Halloween!!!
