Changing my eating habits

Why does eating healthy and losing weight have to be so hard? My Husband and I love to eat and we love trying new foods. Since the new year I have tried eating better which means counting calories. Why is calorie such a scary word? 

I have started a program that I feel best fits what I can do without sacrificing too much. I have been able to learn more about what I need to do to lose weight. It was not a resolution, just a decision to finally get my butt in gear. I want to lose at least 20lbs by this July. 
I have been taking meal replacements shakes and eating a sensible dinner. My dinners usually include stir fry vegetables. I don’t mind, but I did give up rice. I also include chicken, beef, turkey or pork in my meals, along with fish. I have not sacrificed everything. I give myself one day, usually a Friday or Saturday to enjoy going out to eat with the family to eat, without indulging. Below are some foods I have cooked this past weekend.
Since changing my ways and starting the program it’s not the desserts and sweets I’m missing much it is more so the hot breakfast, peppermint mochas in the mornings.

    I too am changing my eating habits. I must have gained at least 15 lbs since Halloween, I love eating and snacking. My goal is lose 30 lbs by the end of this year.
