Bringing Hawaii to San Diego

Living in San Diego is like paradise year round. We are lucky for the beautiful weather here and we love to take advantage of everything San Diego has to offer. During the Summer there are two resorts in San Diego that throw their version of Hawaiian Luau’s. We’ve been wanting to take the kids to have them experience a luau. We chose the Catamaran Resort in Mission Beach. Perfect weather and the perfect setting! It was fun to dress up in our Hawaiian attire and have some fun. Summer Sunset Luau on Mission Bay brings a little taste of the Hawaiian Luau’s with traditional foods, songs and dances of the Polynesian Islands. Performances by The Pride of Polynesian dancers provide the entertainment. The Luau package price includes a lei, mai tai drink, buffet and great entertainment. The Summer Sunset Luau runs every Summer starting in June through August on Fridays and Tuesdays. Though we caught the last night of the Luau, we were fortunate to have a wonderful night shared with our friends. I have gone to several Luaus in Hawaii and on Kauai but I have not gone as a family since having kids. Hopefully one day soon, we can experience a real traditional Luau on the Islands!

  1. That is so cool! I was raised in Hawaii and have been sad that my kids can't experience everything I did growing up there. But now we'll be able to hit a local luau – thanks to this rec.

  2. Yeah, you'll have to check it out. If they've never been to a Luau in Hawaii, they will think this is awesome. LOL But once you experience it in Hawaii, nothing beats their luaus. Bali Hai on Shelter Island also has luaus during the Summer here.
