Taste of Spain
in stores April 6-19
I recently attended the Media Tasting at my local Smith’s store in Las Vegas. This is the third Savor World Flavor event Kroger has hosted. They had Taste of Mexico in 2014 and Taste of Italy last year. The event started off with a an introduction of the event. We were greeted with wine and some tapas “small plates”. Many of these foods were exclusive to Kroger.
For two weeks only starting April 6, 2016 – April 19, 2016 Smith’s stores will be taking customers on a gourmet journey to taste the exquisite flavors or Spain, Savor World Favor: Taste of Spain.
Being that Spain is the third most visited country in the world, they wanted to share to foods and flavors of its country. A team of Kroger food explorers traveled regions of Spain and collaborated with local producers and chefs, searching for authentic, yet easy to prepare meal ideas. They shared different foods, easy recipes and a way for us to bring Spain into our home. This event was the ultimate foodie event. Many of the foods consists of seafood, saffron, cheeses, paprika and olive oil. Taste of Spain will highlight the best flavors brought back for Smith’s customers such as Manchego cheese, seasoned chorizo, dry cured Jamón, olives, bread, paella and different wines are all a part of Spain that were brought into the foods that Kroger are showcasing.

|Spanish Hot Chocolate|
As we sampled all the delicious food at this event we were told that any of the foods we were sampling would be included in our swag bag. Low and behold, when I received the bag it was so heavy! Raquel (the wonderful PR from The Ferraro Group) warned me how heavy it was. I got home and peeked in my bag and wow!!! I got my very own paella pan and kit! I love paella and have always wanted to make it but I have never had my own pan. Now I can make it for my family! Along with the paella kit, we had a bottle of Spain’s best white wine Albariño wine, Organic Alonia extra virgin olive oil, Lazaro’s Spanish Cupcakes, the famous Quince. There were also the best almonds fried in olive oil as well as a nice slice of Manchego cheese.
In addition to all of these goodies, Smith’s will carry these Taste of Spain products in their stores. Be sure to look for the displays that say “Taste of Spain“. The Deli section of the store will have Spanish style “salads”, cheeses, Quince and Jamón. The bakery will cover you desserts, fresh (and frozen) flan. You will also find paella kits, chips, crackers, cupcakes as well as a flan mix in a Taste of Spain display around the store. Be sure to catch the end cap of the frozen section where you will find pizza, potato omelet and frozen flan. If you want to bring a little Spanish flavor into your home and meals, be sure to check out this limited time selection before April 19th. For more recipes, please check the Smith’s website.
